NAVARATRI OR THE NINE DAY WORSHIP OF DEVI
Religious observances , traditional worship and vrattas have at times, more than one significance. Apart from been the adoration of the Divine. Outwardly the nine days of worship of Devi or the mother is known as Navratri Puja; is in the nature of a vijaya-Utsava..The nine days triumphs are offered to the mother for her successful struggle with the demons led by Sumbha and Nisumba.But the spiritual person in his life of sadhna,, the particular division of Nav ratri into sets of three days to adore the different aspect of the supreme goddess has got a very sublime, yet thoroughly practical, truth to reveal in its cosmic aspects it epitomizes the stages of evolution of man into God.
WORSHIP OF DURGA( The eradication of Vices)
The process of sadhna implies resolute will, determined effort and a continuos struggle.In other words strength infinite sakti, is the prime necessity.It is the Divine mother supreme sakti of Brahman has to operate to through the aspirant.In the first three day mother is adored as power , force_Durga.You prayer to mother Durga to distroy all your impurities, your vices ,your defects , she is to fight with animal quality in the devotee,the lower asura in his nature, as she is the protector for your mant dangers and pitfalls.This the tree days. marking the first stage of distruction of Mala ( impurities) and dertemined effort and struggle to root out the evil vasanas in your mind, are set apart for the worshipof the destructive aspect of the mother
WORSHIP OF LAKSHMI (Cultivation of Virtues )
Once you have overcome the negative side that is of breaking down the impure vasanas and old habits, the next step is to build up a sublime spiritual personality, to acquire positive qualities in place of asuric qualities.The Divine qualities-DAIVA SAMPAT_ Lord Krishna enumerates at the Bhaavata Gita have to acquired.The sadhak must cultivate and develop all the auspicious qualities.He has to gather spiritual wealth to enable him to pay the price for the rear gem of Divine wisdom (Jnana ratna ).If this development of the opposite qualities 9Pratipaksha Bhavana ) is not under taken in right earnest , the old asuric nature will raise it head again.The pleasanter side of the of the aspirant sadhna is depicted by the worship of mother laksmi.She bestows on her devotees wealth of Daivi Sampat.Lakshmi is the sampat dayini aspect of Brahman.She is purity Itself.Therefore the second three days mother Lakshmi is worshipped. next week will continue the worship ma Saraswati.May you al,have a blissful Navratri.
